Services

What we build — in detail.

Every job starts with the real thing: the broken part in your hand, the fixture drawing on a napkin, the assembly that needs a jig. Fixed quote before anything prints.

SERVICE 01

Obsolete & DMSMS part replacement

Typical jobs $75–150 · lot sizes of one

Our specialty: parts that can no longer be bought. The original manufacturer is gone, the tooling is scrapped, or the minimum order is absurd for the two pieces you need. We reproduce geometry directly from a surviving physical sample — no drawings required.

  • Discontinued appliance, equipment, and machine components
  • Marine hardware — UV-degraded plastics reprinted in UV-stable ASA
  • Farm and shop equipment parts the dealer stopped stocking
  • Legacy housings, brackets, knobs, and interior fittings
SERVICE 02

Jigs, fixtures & tooling

Typical jobs $50–300 · POs welcome

Production aids for shops that make things — printed in tough, dimensionally stable materials at a fraction of machined cost, and iterated in days when the line changes.

  • Assembly jigs and alignment fixtures
  • Check gauges and inspection aids
  • Soft jaws, workholding, and robot end-of-arm tooling
  • Line-side organizers and shadow boards
SERVICE 03

Prototyping & CAD design

Design time $50/hr

From sketch to functional prototype with revision cycles measured in days, not weeks — and straight answers, including telling you when 3D printing is the wrong tool for the job.

  • CAD design and design-for-printing review
  • Iterative design-and-build cycles
  • Functional, load-bearing prototypes in engineering materials
  • STEP / STL files delivered with your job — the CAD is yours
SERVICE 04

Reverse engineering

Scan accuracy 0.05 mm

We digitize the physical part with structured-light 3D scanning and rebuild it as clean, editable CAD. You receive both the printed part and the model — so the next one is a reorder, not a project.

  • 3D scanning and CAD reconstruction from the sample
  • Broken parts rebuilt whole — and improved where the original failed
  • Material upgrades: stronger, UV-stable, or flexible reprints
  • Customer owns the delivered CAD model
SERVICE 05

Low-volume & bridge production

1 to 100+ parts · no minimum

Production quantities while you wait on hard tooling — or instead of it. No molds, no tooling charges, and revisions between batches whenever you need them.

  • Bridge runs while injection tooling is cut
  • Short-run end-use parts in engineering polymers
  • Consistent, calibrated repeat orders from stored CAD
  • Per-part pricing that scales with quantity
SERVICE 06

Government & institutional

SDVOSB · VetCert in progress

Rock 3D Solutions is a service-disabled-veteran-owned small business one hour from the Detroit supplier corridor at the Blue Water Bridge gateway. Obsolete-part (DMSMS) reproduction is what the shop is built around: scan-to-CAD-to-part, lot sizes of one, fast simple invoicing.

  • Micro-purchase friendly — right-sized for GPC/credit-card orders under $15,000
  • Accepts GPC / credit card / PO / ACH
  • Michigan SDVOB — eligible for the up-to-10% state pricing preference
  • Single point of contact — owner-operated
